In 2026, the nation marks the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Elizabeth II - a landmark occasion to honour the legacy of our former monarch. With that in mind, her centenary has been rightly recognised by the issue of an official new Gold Proof Sovereign.

Her Majesty was born in Mayfair on 21st April 1926 as the eldest child of the Duke and Duchess of York. Her life changed forever in 1936 when her uncle King Edward VIII abdicated and propelled her to the first in line to the throne – a position she inherited 16 years later at the age of just 25. It depicts the poised and elegant young monarch wearing the Diamond Diadem Tiara, an image that was later used on the UK’s first official postage stamps of her extraordinary reign. Meanwhile, on the obverse is an official portrait of Charles III by another leading figure in the numismatic industry, Jody Clark.
