Commemorating the 400th Anniversary of the final Laurel

A brand-new Solid Silver Proof Laurel collection has just been released for 2025, featuring a unique change of portrait for King Charles III – the 400th anniversary of the final Laurel coin. For the only time this year, the King wears a laurel crown on his head AND appears facing the WRONG direction. The NEW 2025 Solid Silver Proof Laurel Collection has been officially approved by Buckingham Palace to mark the 400th anniversary of an historic British coin called the laurel, which was the successor to the very first Gold Sovereign and which was last struck in 1625 during the reign of James I.

Rare right-facing effigy

The changes to the portrait of King Charles III on this new set reflect the very same differences that featured on that final laurel of 400 years ago, which saw King James I unusually wear a laurel wreath on his head and his effigy facing the opposite way compared to all other coins of his reign.

925/1000 Sterling Silver

Each coin within the NEW 2025 Solid Silver Proof Laurel Collection is struck in 925/1000 Sterling Silver to a pristine Proof finish. Upon the reverses features a design inspired by the original laurel from 400 years ago, which combines perfectly with the unprecedented obverses depicting King Charles III in a laurel wreath and facing right.

ONE-YEAR-ONLY privy mark

Uniquely for this 400th anniversary release, a rare crown privy mark also features on each of the obverses heightening the importance of the release further still. With a limit of JUST 499 Solid Silver Proof Laurel Collections worldwide, a sell-out is expected soon. Arrives housed in deluxe Presentation Case with Certificate of Authenticity.
