Marking Elizabeth II’s Centenary Year

In 2026, the nation will commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Queen Elizabeth II, a landmark occasion in honour of our greatest monarch. With that in mind, this key royal event has been rightly marked with the issue of a brand new British Isles Gold Half Sovereign, approved by Buckingham Palace for early release.

Our Longest-Reigning Sovereign

Born in Mayfair on 21st April 1926 as the eldest child of the Duke and Duchess of York, the life of Queen Elizabeth II changed forever in 1936 when her uncle King Edward VIII abdicated and propelled her to the first in line to the throne – a position she inherited 16 years later at the age of just 25. From 1952 until her death in 2022, the year she made history as our first sovereign to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee, Queen Elizabeth II would reign for 70 glorious years – our nation’s longest reigning, and greatest ever monarch.

Struck in 22 Carat Gold

To mark the 100th anniversary of her birth in 2026, a brand new Gold Half Sovereign has been expertly struck in 22 Carat Gold to the highest Proof finish. Issued with a mintage of just 999 coins worldwide, the coin features a newly commissioned design that is the work of celebrated artist John Bergdahl (who has worked on numerous Royal Mint commissions), featuring, in the centre, the late monarch’s official E II R cypher, underneath the St Edward’s Crown. Surrounding this on either side is a beautiful arrangement consisting of the UK’s four floral symbols: the Rose, the Thistle, the Shamrock, and the Daffodil. On the obverse is an official effigy of King Charles III, Her Majesty’s son and successor, by coinage artist Jody Clark.

Just 999 worldwide

With just 999 Gold Proof Half Sovereigns issued for this royal anniversary of unparalleled significance, a swift response is highly recommended. Arrives housed in a deluxe Presentation Case with a Certificate of Authenticity.
