Probably the most talked about silver coin of 2021
Over the last few months there have been a number of notable releases from the Royal Mint – however, in terms of innovation and stretching the boundaries of technology, one stands head and shoulders above the rest.
That coin is the 150th Anniversary of the Royal Albert Hall £5 Coin – the silver example of the coin being the FIRST EVER United Kingdom domed shaped issue. Not surprisingly, given the unique nature of the release, the coin is in extremely high demand. The great news is that Harrington & Byrne was successful in securing 100 pieces of this coin to be able to still offer our collectors.

150th Anniversary of a national institution
Like international mints throughout the world, the Royal Mint commemorates each year the most significant domestic anniversaries or celebrations for the year. 2021 marks the 150th Anniversary of the Royal Albert Hall – the magnificent monument built in honour of Queen Victoria’s husband – for which the mint was given permission to release a range of commemorative coins for.
Thousands upon thousands of commemorative coins are issued each year – but not many really jump out at you. But the 2021 United Kingdom Albert Hall Domed £5 Silver Proof Crown is one such coin that really has caught the eye when I have seen it in person. The reason for this is that it is the FIRST EVER dome-shaped coin to be issued by the Royal Mint.
Unprecedented innovation from the Royal Mint
Reminiscent of previous curved US Mint releases for the Baseball Hall of Fame and the Moon Landing, the new UK Coin perfectly represents the dome of the Royal Albert Hall – a key London landmark for 150 years that was built as a memorial of Queen Victoria’s devoted husband Prince Albert after his passing.
Rapid Sell Out
Collectors have understandably swarmed to the releases – especially the Silver Crown that has particularly proved a massive sensation despite a mintage of 3,500 pieces. Despite this limit, the 925/1000 Silver Proof Coin is expected to sell out shortly – which is unusual for a UK Silver Crown and by doing so attracting many new collectors to the market.
The good news today, which I am very excited about, is that I can now offer you and the very best customers at Harrington & Byrne, the chance to own this sure to become iconic coin. Housed in official Royal Mint Presentation Case with Certificate of Authenticity, we were able to secure a limited supply of 100 coins to offer.
