Own the brand-new Gold Sovereign issue, released to mark the Centenary of the birth of Queen Elizabeth II

In 2026 the nation will mark the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Queen Elizabeth II. This is a landmark occasion, to once again take the opportunity to honour our longest reigning and greatest ever monarch.

To commemorate this centenary anniversary, a brand-new British Isles Gold Quarter Sovereign has rightly been issued, which has been approved by Buckingham Palace for early release.

The new coin is the perfect memento to honour the Centenary of the birth of the nation’s oldest and greatest monarch.

Queen Elizabeth II – our longest reigning monarch

Born in Mayfair on 21st April 1926 as the eldest child of the Duke and Duchess of York, the life of Queen Elizabeth II changed forever in 1936 when her uncle King Edward VIII abdicated and propelled her to the first in line to the throne – a position she inherited 16 years later at the age of just 25 when her father King George VI passed away.

From 1952 until her death in 2022, the year that she celebrated her Platinum Jubilee, Queen Elizabeth II would reign for 70 glorious years – our nation’s longest reigning, and often regarded as, our greatest ever monarch. During those 70 years, the nation and the monarchy changed unrecognisably – the British Empire developed into the Commonwealth, whilst at home Queen Elizabeth II would lead the Royal Family into the 21st Century.

Issued with a mintage of just 1,499 worldwide, the coin features a newly commissioned design that is the work of celebrated artist John Bergdahl (who has worked on numerous Royal Mint commissions), featuring, in the centre, the late monarch’s official E II R cypher, underneath the St Edward’s Crown while on either side is a beautiful arrangement consisting of the UK’s four floral symbols, the Rose, the Thistle, the Shamrock and the Daffodil.

The date of her birth in London’s Mayfair in 1926 also appears on the design, while the obverse features an official portrait of Charles III, the Queen’s oldest son and successor; this is by engraver Jody Clark who also designed the UK’s last official coinage portrait of Her Majesty.

Limited edition 22 Carat Gold issue

Like all Gold Sovereign coins, the new 2026 Queen Elizabeth II Centenary Quarter Gold Sovereign has been struck in 22 Carat Gold – and has been done so, to a peerless proof finish.

The coin comes housed with a Certificate of Authenticity. With a mintage of just 1,499 Gold Quarter Sovereigns for this royal anniversary of unparalleled significance, a swift response is highly recommended.
