Exclusive Harrington & Byrne Allocation

2025 marks the 80th Anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the resulting VE Day Celebrations. After almost 6 long years of war on the continent, the Allies finally achieved victory over Germany – a triumph that was celebrated by millions of people on the streets of Britain.

SOLD OUT at The East India Company

A brand-new commemorative Gold Proof Sovereign to mark the key anniversary has been issued by The East India Company, once the largest trading company in the world which, since 1600, has specialised in gold coins. Approved for release by Buckingham Palace, the new gold coin has been released with a mintage of JUST 699 – selling out within days of launch at The East India Company. The great news is that Harrington & Byrne has secured an exclusive allocation.

Struck in 22 Carat Gold

Expertly crafted in 22 Carat Gold to a peerless Proof finish, the new 80th Anniversary of VE-Day Gold Proof Sovereign features an exquisite ONE-YEAR-ONLY design by Elles Kloosterman inspired by the famous First World War ‘Victory Medal’ from more than a century ago. On the reverse is the figure of winged Victoria who has symbolised Victory and Peace for more than two thousand years, wearing a long flowing gown with her arms outstretched to form a ‘V’. Behind her is a ribbon which bears the inscription VE Day, plus the years 1945 and 2025.

Only 699 worldwide

Limited to a mintage of just 699 coins worldwide and already SOLD OUT at The East India Company, the sovereign issue is presented in an official EIC Presentation Case for safekeeping – and comes complete with Certificate of Authenticity confirming the low mintage.
