The most coveted silver coins in the world
Over recent years the popularity of silver has grown significantly for collectors and investors alike, being recognised as a far more affordable route to owning precious metal than through gold. As a result, since the 1980s all of the leading international mints have introduced their own pieces on the market to satisfy this ever growing demand.
For the first time, Harrington & Byrne is able to offer customers the opportunity to own the BRAND NEW 2018 releases of four of the most significant of these annual collector issues in one impressive collection. Each of the four coins has been struck in at least 999/1000 fine silver – and have been minted by the most prestigious international mints in the world.
United Kingdom Silver Britannia
First issued as an uncirculated coin in 1998, the United Kingdom Silver Britannia coin continues the 2000-year long tradition of the iconic Britannia image featuring on our coins. Marking its 20th anniversary in 2018, originally the coin was struck uniquely in 958/1000 ‘Britannia Silver’ - however, since 2013 the purity of the coin has been increased to 999/1000 Silver – in line with other international silver pieces.
The 2018 issue once again features the classic portrayal of Britannia by Philip Nathan, first seen on Britannia coinage in 1987. This iconic design is joined once again by Jody Clark’s new effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in 2018.
United States Silver Eagle
Since it was first issued in 1986 the design of the US Silver Eagle has remained the same – each year featuring the iconic Walking Liberty design. Commonly regarded as the most popular annual silver coin in the world, the US Eagle is struck in 999/1000 Silver and can trace its history back to the very first US Eagle coins that were prominent during the 19th Century.
Canada Silver Maple Leaf
Unlike the UK Britannia or US Eagle, the Canadian Maple Leaf is actually struck in 999.9/1000 Silver – making it one of the purest annual silver issues in the world. First issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1988, the Canadian Maple Leaf has featured the same classic design ever since, a design that despite numerous maple issues each year, only appears on this coin.
As is now common, The Royal Canadian Mint has also added a number of state-of-the-art features, placing its NEW 1oz Silver Maple Leaf at the cutting edge of minting technology. For example, in order to help reduce counterfeiting, there’s an engraved privy mark of its national symbol, the Maple Leaf on the reverse and, if you look very closely, you’ll see a tiny ‘18’ in the centre denoting its year of issue.
Australia Silver Kangaroo
The 2018 Australian Kangaroo – struck like the Maple in 999.9/1000 pure silver – completes the collection. Traditionally linked with Australia, the Kangaroo is depicted bounding across the reverse which is enhanced by rays of sunlight and a ‘P’ mintmark to indicate The Perth Mint. The bullion Silver Kangaroo was first struck by the Perth Mint in 2016 and has already become a genuine rival to the other three coins within the collection as the most in-demand annual silver coin
in the world.
Together these four iconic coins are housed in one exclusive collection for 2018. A wonderful opportunity to own a set of silver coins of real international significance, they sit together in a Deluxe Presentation Case and are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
