A magnificent new 24 Carat Gold Coin featuring unique gothic portrait of Queen Elizabeth II reviving one of the most iconic British coins of all time.

Available for JUST £39 POSTFREE

Inspired by the revival of the Medieval era during Victoria’s reign, the first ‘Gothic Crown’ of 1847 is widely considered the greatest achievement of its designer William Wyon RA, arguably The Royal Mint’s finest ever engraver.

Over 170 years since Wyon’s work of art, leading sculptor and artist Jody Clark, whose official Queen Elizabeth II portrait appears on all our coinage, has taken his inspiration from his predecessor’s most famous creation to create a modern rendition of the Gothic Crown in honour of our Queen. Clark’s obverse features a head and shoulders portrait of the monarch in the St Edward’s Crown and an embroidered dress while, around the edge, in Gothic script, as per the 19th century original, is the Latin for ‘Elizabeth by the Grace of God.’ The reverse is based on Wyon’s famous ‘Four Shields’ design.

Approved by Buckingham Palace for issue, the new 24 Carat Gold Coin is the first of its kind – celebrating both Queen Elizabeth II as she moves towards her Platinum Jubilee year and also honouring one of the Royal Mint’s most historic coin designs. Only 2,999 of these exceptional Gothic coins have been released and a rapid sell out is expected.
